how do I get the engine out and back in to a '84 econovan?

Should we pull it out through the top or drop it out through the bottom.
Should we leave the transmission attached and drop the whole assembly

We are basically swapping engines from 2 vans (1 van has good engine and trans and bad body, the other has good body but engine is blown up

Any experienced advice will be appreciated

i've always dropped them out the bottom. i usually drop the whole engine/gearbox out as a whole. raise the van and lower the whole engine cradle/gearbox assembly.

i've seen em go out thru the top but u have to take one of the front doors off. it'll come out top or bottom. my preference is out the bottom.
