I've got a ED Fairmont wagon V8 auto. When I drive at around 100-120 km/h, the auto decides for a reason unbeknown to me change down to second gear, causing the car to do a vicious kickdown and thus sending the tacho into the crazy zone!!

Does anyone here see a solution to this drama. I sort of feel good about it because its a possible excuse for me to get a manual for it.

Any fair dinkum replies would be most welcome.

Does it *always* happen at this speed ? And does it ever occur at any other times ?

If you try driving at the same speed with the shifter in 3rd, does it do the same thing still ?

Id get the electronics tested. My mate has an ef2xr8 and his neutral switch was stuffed and it made his gears kicked back for no apparent reason at all. Sitting at 100 on the freeway it would drop to second :/
