confused ED Heating Problem

I have an ED and it runs on COLD all the time, like in the blue.

I replaced the thermo and started it up and it was still the same?? I thought it may have been the wrong thermostat but checked it with the chart at roccas and it was the right one. Maybe got a faulty one?? I didn’t worry about it but started to find my car was running extremely rich. (I think this is cause the computer thinks the car it cold and engaging the automatic choke).

Would it be best to have another look and get it running normal temp or does it really matter??????????

Unusual story this one. Make sure you are using a 92degC stat which is factory. It does not matter too much if you are using a 80degC stat as long as it is no lower.

You might even have a temp gauge sender problem, only way of telling is to use a test thermometer and do a comparison.

My Current and previous EBs did the same thing.

I was told by one workshop that some of them did not come with thermostats.

Had one installed in my current ride, and presto, the gauge now moves above the blue line and in to the normal range!

Re: ED Heating Problem

my ED is doing the exact same thing. temp gauge never reachers the 'normal' region.

Can this make the car run rich? because my car always blows black smoke when I floor it.

I had the same problem, and there has been a few ED owners on here over the last few months with the same problem.
mine was actually the thermostat.
The old one was a 160f, the new was a 192F.
It fixed the problem.

Re: ED Heating Problem

I had that with my EA, i tried 3 different Thermostats and it still barely got to line where normal starts. This was is 92deg Waxstat Thermostat. It for somereason now gets to N but still stumped why it does it.
