hey guys, ive had this problem on my ED since the day i bought it, whenever dry steering it makes these snapping/cracking noise ocasionally and the wheel shudders. even when the car is off and you turn the wheel you can still hear the snapping/cracking noise. any idea on what it could be? its been pissing me off ever since i got it. someone has suggested ball joints and someone else tierod ends. anyone else had this problem? and what can i do to fix it. thanks.

If you think its suspention get a pro to check it, it's too important and dangerous to have bad balljoints etc..Pedders or Whole sale suspention etc...
Check that there are no kinks etc in power steering lines and no chance of air getting into return line, air in system can cause strange noises...
It wouldn't hurt to replace fluid in p/s system either.....

Raise the front wheels off the ground, and get someone to turn the steering while you locate the source of the sound. Will then be easier to work out what needs replacing. does the sound occur while driving also?

id say your balljoints may be in need of checking.
as XWISH said, jack the front up and check everything over, see if the balljoints have play in them or the boots are broken, then turn the wheels and see where it comming from.
