Before fitting the exhaust ( pacemaker tri y's twin std cats into a 2.5 inch mandrel bent red back system ) the car was dynoed by lakeside automotive in reservoir victoria ( free plug) speak to shane or richard . The car but down a MASSIVE 113 kw :) @ the wheels at 4400 rpm , at 4500rpm it started to loose power not much about 2 kw but is was on the way down .

the zorst was fitted today and on friday the car will be re dynoed to find out the difference .

is 113 kw a good example or is it down to start off with ?

the only mod to the car is a k&n filter

Doesn't sound too far off. Of course it depends on dynos, they all give different readings but my EF XR6 after exhaust and filter was about the same 118rwkw. Mine is an auto so I lose out a fair bit on the rwkws.

yeah i reckon 113kw is about right, i have heard that an average XR6 puts out about 110kw to the wheels, and they are rated at 164kw at the flywheel.

im pretty sure your V8 is rated at 165kw at the flywheel standard, so 113kw at the wheels sounds like a good figure to me.

I've got an AU V8 Forte Auto which was measured at 119 Kw at the wheels - it's rated by ford at 175, so 113 for 165 rating is about right. After i added a 2.5" cat back system and pod filter, my reading went to 132Kw at the rear wheels (195 odd at the engine).

Forgot to add that I'm also looking at the Pacemaker headers, so I'd be really interested to know what power gains you end up with.

ok jcv8 , it should be dynoed on friday or the following week , ill let you know the results . as for the seat of the pants it does feel a little stronger and want to rev a bit cleaner but not a huge difference so far .

does the v8 get a knock sensor and if not can one be retro fitted from a later model like the commodore V8

Yeah that sure does sound right for that vehicle. Stock they are 165kw and your car being auto aswell 113rwkw is rite. After your exhaust mods you should be looking at around 120rwkw. ofcourse the dyno will differ on what the weather like on the day. by the way, friday is looking to be 28 in melb so if i were you, leave it for a week

Now that you've fitted your exhaust you can up the timing by a few degrees too. But do that whilst on the dyno after your first run.

I look forward to the results of the dyno. As for the knock sensor - I have no idea. Anyone else answer this?

didnt get dynoed friday 'cause of the hot weather , most likely tuesday - wednesday

and ive had a lot of interest from people regarding the results so will post them up quik smart
