EF Demister Question

I was out at Sol-Ace last week getting the tinting on one of my rear side windows replaced as it was peeling up at the bottom, and once the job was done, I started speaking to the salesgirl there about the options for having the full car done in a darker tint (the current tint only removes 15% of natural light).

Anyway, she gave me the cost of removing the old tint and putting on a new one but cautioned me that some "older cars" have the heat wires for the rear demister on the surface of the glass, as opposed to inside it like newer cars and that if they removed the tinting on the back window, they wouldn't take any responsibility for damage done to the demister if it was the former case.

The girl didn't seem to know what they defined an "older car" as, nor whether the heat wires were on the surface or in the glass in my car. Does anyone know what the case would be with a 1994 EF Fairmont Ghia?

Thanks,

James

On the outside of the glass inside the car where most cars still have it. Just put some louvres on the outside of the back window if you want it dark inside (I will not ask what you are hiding in there) as (even if you had a car with the element inside the glass) the heater demister will bubble the tint film anyway.

You'll probably find that they generally don't damage the demister, I mean Sol-Ace are pretty reputable. They're probably just covering their own asses if something goes wrong.

Aussiblue - What do I have to hide? I have a small bodyguarding company with a mate of mine and we have to use our own vehicles - since I can't afford a Limo and my mates car is an open back Humvee, my Fairmont has the highest "prestige" factor - but window tinting is a must for client privacy.
