I was wondering if there were any EL XR style bonnet scoops available for the Fairmont bonnet?
Could it be done? Or is the GT Scoop all that is available..

Has anyone looked into it?

Also.. Do you fellas think its too tacky to put on EL GT grill and EL GT Bonnet scoop to a I6 Fairmont? Just thinking about it at this stage..

Any comments will be great.

I think putting the grill on might look abit tacky but do whatever you think looks good

my opinion mate don't do it. the gt body kit looked excellent except for that ugly grille. but as what cogo_81 says, it's yours so do what YOU want to do. it would look pretty good with the bonnet scoops though.

ChuBBz, I was thinking of doing the same thing with an XH panelvan. SO if you go ahead with it, post some pics, problems and prices

Hey ChuBBz,
The XR bonnets are stock EF gear, so all EL/EF XR bonnet vents match a standard EF bonnet.
It's your car, so up to you what you do. At least you have some performance to match the looks. Could use the bonnet scoop for a ram pod filter :)

Actually I've seen 3 different xr front ends on ef/el, XH's

different front ends for 2 different models doesn't make much sense, Anyone know the diff???

Pretty sure there's only one bonnet. It would have cost ford a fair smack to tool up for a new bonnet for the utes, which they would never have recovered. So I think you'll find the bonnets are pretty much the same, even though the bars are different.

3 different bonnets. (EF utes, EF falcon and EF fairmont/fairlane/ltd) to my understanding.

The thing is though... XR scoops would lie directly on the raised part of the fairmont bonnet... So it obviously wouldnt fit :(

The bonnets are different there are 5 bonnets used on ef/el series. all xh ute bonnets are the same regardless of xr or std
but they stand alone and are not the same as any ef/el bonnet as follows:
ef gli/futura
el gli/futura
ef/el xr
ef/el fairmont/ghia
ef/el fairlane/ltd
xh utes
but thats not to say vents wont fit to a non xr bonnet.i hope this helps a clarify a bit
