EF-EL Odometers??

I need to know if the total KM are kept actually in the dash memory? eg if the dash was to simply be replaced with another with lesser km would this simply change the Km reading?

No guesswork, I need to be 110% sure about this, at the moment im 99% this is the case.

I had the dash out of my two EF's a couple of times to replace blown globes. Both times the OD came back as it was before hand including the Trip Meter reading.

BOF I am pretty sure the memory is kept in the dash unit itself. Have a look on the Fordmods site, there is a memory chip on the the back of the dash cluster that holds km readings. I am pretty sure but have a look anyway.

So your'e thinking someone might swap a dash/chip from a low km wreck into a higher mileage good one? Interesting.

Its stored in the body computer module, so swapping the dash will kep the same cars reading, not the "dashes" reading.

If you look towards the bottom of this page you will see that there is a tiny little microchip that holds the odometer reading, which is on the actual instrument cluster.

So the odometer readings are individual to each cluster, not car.
