Hey fellas.

Does anyone have any idea if I would be able to install an EF/L steering rack onto an EA. Any info would be great.

Im not too sure if they fit, I was going to have a look at a EF taxi at the wreckers the other day but didnt get around to it.

I always assumed there were some differences in the EF front end compared to EA/EB/ED......but whether that affects the steering rack or not im not sure. Would be a good thing to know though....I always assumed the only rack that fit into a EA was EB/ED (like the one I have)

What would be the benefit of having an EF over an EA?

The main reason that I would be interested in doing it is because the EF steering has a better feel, not as light as the EA.
They also require less turns to full lock, which means there is more response.

Your right, Ea 3.25 turns the EF-El is 2.8. Ef El also turns a tighter turn as well. of 10.8 metres vs (i think) 11.

Yup, thats what I want!

If I get a chance, ill do a comparison of my EA to my dad's EL and see if it can be done.

If not, i'll be taking the $120 quote I just got and have the leak fixed.

Hey Bassy,

Let us know how you go, dude. I've gotta change mine soon, too...

I guessing that they are interchangeable, it's just a question of whether or not anything else needs to be changed along with it.
