Hi,
I have a factory dual fuel 94 EF Falcon. Which I have trouble with at the moment. While running on either gas or petrol I experience a drop on engine rpms sometimes the motor would stall each time the car slows down to either turn a corner or stop at a stand still. What could the problem be?

Possibly the engine has backfired and blown one of the vacume hoses off the manifold

94ED_Fairmont has recently successfully sorted out a crook idle problem with his car - check out the post and see if it might help you.

Yeah it was the computer - it had been resest during the head gasket repair and didn't self learn. Consequently the idle was off and I had a stalling problem.

Have you had the battery disconnect or die? If so it may have resest the computer and it hasn't relearned.

To fix it, if that is the prob, you need to get teh comp resest and reprogrammed. I got mine done at Ford.

I thought all you needed was to disconnect the battery for a half hour or so, then start driving normally. It may stall a few times during learning, but the EEC-V will get the idea after a few times. It is also best to decellerate at a few different speeds so the 'puter knows how to compensate for idle upon varying RPM decelleration rates.

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but thats what I did after a HG replacement! Also, the gear shifts were pretty sucky for a hundred kays or so!

Maybe I was just lucky!?!

Ahhh - I just reread both posts and notice that you are discussing an ED which has an EEC-IV 'puter. Maybe there is a difference in the self-learnigng algos between the EEC-IV and EEC-V?

one of my mates did a idle reset on my Fairlane (he used to be a Ford mecho), and to teach the computer he reset it, then started it in park and let it idle for a few mins, then put it in drive and let it idle for a few mins, then in park with the aircond on, then drive with the aircond on, and with in a matter of about 15mins or so the computer learnt and it ran beautifully again.
