Hi there, have read a few of the forums about these gauges showing low, and bringinging the buzzer on . want to know if ther has been some more found out about this , sound really common among this era of xr range.need help last thing i want to do is put a vdo on the dashboard

Ensure the sender has good contact with the engine block & all earth points have good contact & corrosion free.

Yup check your sensor. I've heard of the sensors riding high all the time but not down low, but I'd say its just a sensor problem.

Ensure its contacting correctly, else you'll need to buy a new one.

thanks for the reply "spalding green" and "honer", the sender unit is new, would there be a particular earth behind the dash at all? the car was put in at ford this morning but they could not find anything , (not surprising though)!, it has actually been good all day, maybe they have moved somthing and ir has fixed itself......... see how it goes.... by the way would there be asite on the net like this for holdens i have a mate who has problems?

Had the same problem on my AU.

Changed sender unit, changed oil - No luck.

Then I ran an extra earth cable from the engine block to the body - FIXED !
Cheap too. I just got an auto-elec to make me up a cable with those flat washer bits at each end. Just bolt these in infront of existing bolts on the block & body.
