EL Air cleaner assembly on CFI EA, COMPLEATED!!!!

There has been a bit of talk on here about different air cleaners for the EA CFI. I have been looking around for about 4 months for a good cheap EL air cleaner assembly and found one for $30 last weekend. I finished installing it on Tuesday and tested it out this morning.

There is a noticeable increase in acceleration, if in 3rd gear doing 60-70kms you only need to accelerate a little to make the car move. Before it would have change into second to get this much acceleration. If you really put your foot down it hammers.

I will explain how I fitted it when l post pics up soon.

Would be good to see what the difference was on a dyno...

I took some pics, so here they are.

I have not got any snorkel as yet, but plan to fit one soon as I get round to changing the thermostat housing.

It was very easy to do and well worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To fit the flexible pipe to the throttle body I made a little attachment to attach to it. It is just a piece of PVC pipe that I made into an oval shape and fitted 2 small brackets to it. I remove the air cleaner mounting screw thing and then used those 2 screws that held that into place to hold the attachment that I made.

Hope these pics help, sorry I donít have any pics on the bracket I made but I can get some if you really want to have a look, its no trouble.

See ya

Jason

THE ATTACHMENT FOR THE THROTTLE BODY LOOKS LIKE THIS

It looks like necessity is the mother of invention (or customisation) yet again! Looks good, and should go better with a cold air induction kit (snorkel).

Well done! Does it seem to go any better than the CFI setup?

Just from the pics i have one question..

Where is the cold air coming from??

From what I can see there is no pipe coming off the snorkel at the front??

Other than that, great job! Do you reckon you can get some PVC pipe or flexi pipe custom made? If so where?

Looks like u did a good job man but i fail to see how this allows better airflow than the stock CFI setup. Where does the air get in without the snorkle? In the hole the snorkle joins to? U need a snorkle and perhaps cut another hole in the airbox and run a pipe to behind the grill or bumper.

Hey david_84. Your best idea to improve power would be to go to the wreckers and get all the parts needed to replace your CFI with multipoint injection gear.
To get an idea of how to convert, there is a story on eafalcon.com explaining how. Go to www.eafalcon.com/tuning/index.htm and select the CFI-MPFI link.
See how ya go... :)
