How big a job is it to re-align the drivers door on a EL?

It used to close fine, but after years of me fanging (umm sedately motoring) with my arm on the sill, and bracing against it, it seems to be sagged.

Symptoms, lotsa wind noise now, if u stick ur finger in the glass groove inside top you can pull it towards u and its quieter as you drive. Also if you look along the car with the door closed, its no longer flush.

its only a few mm but its enough to be noisy as!
now Im no panel beater, but is there an adjustment on this or a bolt i can loosen and shove it, or is there a big risk i could really stuff it up!

You should just be able to adjust the door striker (the thing that the door latches onto) inward. You will need a torx screwdriver though. I did this to my EA and it still isn't perfect but it's 150% better than what it was.

There is an adjustment that can be made - I had this done at a panel beater which saved huge bucks for a replacement hinge installation. Trouble was, the door then rattled when driving, which has been partially solved by the procedure EAII_Fairmont lists above.

Open the door and lift the end of the door up as hard as you can you probably hear some creaking noises while doing this its only the hinge bending then check to see if it is at the right hight, now loosen the striker just a little bit and give it a tap in with a hammer, tighten and check the door again.

Thats all a panel beater will do, I know because I am one
