EL XR8 Engine upgrade recommendations

Where would I start with upgrades (engine wise) for my EL XR8?
Let's say I have a budget of $2000 for the time being.

If you havent already fitted a good set of extractors and free flowing exhaust Do this first as any mods to the engine will not make any difference while running the standard exhaust system , From there fit cold air induction , larger T/B and AFM , That's about it for bolt on's .

Best bang for bucks would be a set of pacemaker extractors and exhaust and then a set of 3.7 gears for manual, or 3.9's for an auto. Next step after that would be heads, intake (if you have the series 1), MAF, injectors, cam etc $$$$$$$

Already got a good set of extractors and exhaust. It's the Series II.

How about Air Flow Meter, or a new cam etc?

If you leave the extractors as is for now, you can change them later when you turbo it :s6:

zoom issue 36 I think had an article on a twin turbo falcon XR8 ute. Specs are attached for those interested.

Give Mick Webb a call at SVO Motorsport in Melbourne.
He will give you an idea on what's the go.
He is good to talk to as he gives you the time.

If you already have the exhaust, then $2000 will buy you a set of GT40P heads ($1000) and a matching cam ($600) and roller rockers ($400). The stock MAF will hold you back a little, but you can add the MAF down the track along with a set of 24lb injectors. As Hales said, Mick Webb is a great guy to talk to, gve him a call.

If you went for the GT40P heads, YT roller rockers and a good cam, either crane 2031 or crow medium performance cam, you should be looking at around 200-220 kw I would think. With MAF and throttle body you will push that up to around 240kw
