380 Hilux

Okay, so i will be in the market for an el xr fairly soon, what i would like to know is the differences i can expect from the 8 to the 6. Things like performance, smoothness, styling, and also the effect of extractors and 2.5inch exhaust on both.

Edit: Would love to get some opinions on a fairlane ghia concorde '98 inline 6 which i just had a look at for about 15000.

im in the same boat i am willing and unwilling to buy my old mans EL XR6 off him but he wants 18000 for it, it has full bodykit, 5 speed manual, tickford wheels and the best thing is it only has 28000 kms on the clock!,

i currently have a 98 EL Futura sapphire with 2.5 zorst and pacemaker headers, k&n, tickford snorkel and dropped with 103000kms so im still undecided whether to buy it or not as not sure about selling mine
apart from 20 kw diff i dont think there is anydiff from the 8 to the 6

Both the 6 and the 8 will give almost identical performance, unless you find a 185kw XR8 then it will be a bit quicker. I drive both I6 and V8 falcons and IMO the V8 is a much more flexible engine. When pushing it, the I6 doesn't feel any where as nice as the V8, and nothing can match the sound of the V8 too.

As for the fairlane ghia concorde, they are beautiful cars with tons of space and luxury. But they are big and heavy which makes them a fair bit slower, but they are not meant to be driven like a performance XR6 or XR8.
