Neal 1.6

Hi,

I have just bought an Escort Estate 1.6 1994 (cvh 16v engine) and have hit a big probem...

well big at night anyway! lol.

All the dash lights are out, and the side light circut is out. leaving me with no tail lights at all. (brake lights work fine, and dip beams and main beams are ok) I have checked the relays and fuses, and checked all the earths assosiated with the light circuits in general. To no avail. Indicators work ok, hazards work ok.

Am i correct in thinking the problem lies within the light switch or wiring on the steering coloum? As i cant seem to narrow it down to anything else.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

well thanks for the "heap" of replies....

its off to the ford dealer today to find out...

i suspect its the switch as it was smoking this morning when i cleaned it with a spray alcohol cleaner...
