Sup ppl, was just wondering what you all would recomend in terms of engine conditioner for an EL, there are quite a few on the market and i'm not sure what is the best one, or do they all do the same thing?

Re: Engine Conditioner

How many k's on the motor, is it running OK?

Most of these things are of dubious benefit, or in other words, a waste of money. A quality oil, changed often, is far better for the motor than any "conditioner".

Having said that, I have put some Molybond oil supplement in the old ute, the molybdenum protects the metal during cold starts. The ute is only started/used once a week, if that. In my daily driver, no additves and change the oil every 5,000 k's.

cheers

Re: Engine Conditioner

i agree with Topghia change you oil every 5000kms is good enough. I have tried numberous additives and was disappointed with most of them; however if i was to recommend one i would have to say ROIL. I doubt you will find it at a supercheap there might be something arround on the net but you would have to look arround.

cheers

Re: Engine Conditioner

the only one i use is Nulon E20, I change oil every 5000k's and add a bottle of E20 ever 3rd or 4th oil change for good measure, help keep the lifters quite. Other than that I wouldnt touch the stop smoke stuff with a 10ft pole, if its blowing smoke, try a thicker oil, but I agree with the above, a good oil change is better than any conditioner

Re: Engine Conditioner

kgb,

Greetings comrade! That's all you need - regular oil and filter changes. Modern oils have good detergent/dispersant additives to get rid of any crap, you don't really need anything else.

Check the condition of your auto fluid, if you have an auto, that should be changed out by now IMO.

cheers
