Well,
After 4 days of perfect driving the Engine has gone back to it's old self (For those who have not previously read this saga my car is suffering from the occasional misfire or something of the sort where the car struggles to accelerate or even cruise at a level speed. I have replaced fuel filter, leads, plugs, had the head gasket done and checked out the dizzy cap and TPS with no success.)
The problem had gone away but as I did nothing to fix it I guess I had to expect the problem to come back on it's own.
This weekend I will be swapping the coil for one I bought from a wreckers but after that I am totally lost for ideas.
Keep those ideas coming people PLEASE!!
Thanks in advance,

Wait till it gets dark then go for a drive. Get the engine to warm up and till you get that hesitation on acceleration that you mentioned. Then pull over to a dark spot ( I mean dark- no street lights or nothing, get someone to go with you for safety) and have a look around the distributor, along the leads, around the spark plugs for any arcing ( small blue flashing lights). Also where the leads are all bunched up or touching anything metalic.
This is what I did. I never would have suspected my fairly new TOP GUN leads.
Check all your grounds and try replacing your accelerator cable..
It'll cost ya $50 tops..
I wouldn't say go to another mechanic. All the things he's checked/replaced are pretty much the way to go, and any other mechanic would have done the same.
Blockages in your fuel lines, injectors? Fuel pressure might be low.. your pressure regulator or even your pump might need replacing. A Self Diagnosis Test might help maybe?
My 10 cents worth.. goodluck mate!
In those 4 days of good driving, was the weather any different? What I am getting at is high humidity might aggravate an electrical fault somewhere. When the humidity is down, things work OK. image might be on the right track, if you want a quick test like that, get a spray bottle and with engine properly warmed, give the wires, coil etc a fine mist of water to see if it hesitates (don't squirt it on).
See how that goes.
If this happens only with a hot engine, I would suspect the coil. I assume that the mechanic would have checked the fuel delivery system.

I have gone through and checked all the grounds and with exception of one which was covered in grease (which I cleaned) they were all fine. Curious question, how would the accelerator cable be the cause of this? I thought that it would either be attached or not?
I will also try the spray bottle trick and let you know.
Thanks,
