I have a 2000 Taurus with the DOHC engine. The engine light came on recently and I had Auto Zone put the handheld analyzer on it. The verdict was either the EGR valve or some sensor. Is changing the EGR valve easy or complicated? What about the sensors?
did they clear the CEL and if so has the CEL come back on?
In most cases (except for high mileage or oil burners) the DPFE sensor is the problem. The part retails for about $76. This is a common problem with the Taurus. Old and new.
