I'm pulling the cleveland V8 out of my XA today and I have found a problem. The engine is being removed seperate of the gearbox (c4) and I just cannot get the engine and gearbox apart. I don't understand why they wont seperate, but it's driving me crazy and I'm almost out of day light. Everything has been disconnected (to my knowledge) and the engine lifts out of its mounts easily enough, but I can't pull the motor forward because the gearbox is stuck to it!

Silly question but have you removed all bolts from the bellhousing that bolt onto the motor and also have you removed the starter motor?

and the inspection cover off the bottom of it aswell and also its best to undo the 4 nuts to the converter through the flex plate and then it will seperate.

Haha well I've sorted it now, seems it was just a matter of holding my mouth in just the right funny looking position and pulling like a school boy, and it came loose with an almighty bang. Thanks for the suggestions anyway guys!

Oh, forgot about the flexplate/convertor bolts!!!
