Ok, if you've got an engine that's been sitting for say...2 months, should anything be done to it before it gets fired up again?

If you have had one that has been siting for a long time its not a bad idea to pull the plugs and turn it over with a socket on the crankshaft for a few revolutions just in case the rings have rusted to the bore etc. Also once you have done this crank it with the starter to ensure that you have oil pressure before it fires. That said however it should be ok if its only been 2 months.

I've gone on 2 trips overseas both taking about 2 months each. When I got back from the first one my EL took about 4 or 5 seconds to start, and after the 2nd trip it started just like normal. I was pretty impressed with that. I didn't do anything fancy at all, just put the key in the ignition and turn.
