just wondering if a new cat would make a big difference? or a worthwhile result?
not lookiing for a hifow cat or anything just say sumting off an AU or sumthing? or any suggestions guys? not looking to pay much thats all. extarctors are the big chunk in the bank.

If you are on a tight budget you probably don't need to do the cat. I changed my cat when fitting new extractors and 2.5" system basically as prevention. The existing cat had done 190K and if it sh*t itself then it could screw my new cat back system. As an aside, an exhaust analyser found my new system to be sweet. No CO2 was even registered.

Imo, you dont need a new cat for HP gain, just as a precaution and a cleaner world, if you have the money.

Re: exhasut question?!

If your chasing power, then you will only notice a diff with the hi-flow Cat. Replacing the Cat with a half decent one also gives you more noise, more power, and more fuel!

If i'm right, a hi-flow Cat will set you back between 300 and 350 bucks. the next one down is around the $250 mark.

Re: exhasut question?!

I got my hiflow for $200.

Have been told the falcon cats are relatively hi flowing anyway.

Power wise it probably wont be that noticable unless your current cat is blocked.

Not too sure if a Au one will fit a ZL without being chopped. They should only set u back $50-75.
Last time i bought one from a wrecker it was f'ed, so check it out first.

Re: exhasut question?!

A good cheap high flowing cat is off a VL commodore or same model skyline. I think they are 2.5" and flow very nice. We used a pair of them on my mates 5.0 faimont, and they worked really well, and no-where near the cost.

Driftagent, get carsik to go back to his exhaust place, and pick up the other cat for you. Prob cost $80, and about $10 in freight, and would be as good as anything else you could buy.
