Extractor advice for Au2 XR8 - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I really need some advice on extractors for an Au2 xr8 200kw. I currently have a system from the cats back. Two into one 3 inch pipe. 1 stainless muffler and then 3 inch mandrel bent iron from there back. No resonator. Sounds bloody awsome but I was wondering if 1) I would possibly spoil the great sound by changing the headers, 2) If I would gain noticable performance gain from doing so and 3) Any recommendations on brand plus cats.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I live in Brisbane too so no places to go in Melbourne or Sydney. Thanks guys

We can ship to you our 4 into one stainless steel headers they come complete with highflow sports cats and all hardware to fit them .

Extractors are always a good idea for any car.
But from what i've been told, the factory cats flow pretty damn fine and the high cost of after market cats seems abit of a waste.

Herrod,

Will your AUXR8 headers fit into an ED XR8. I have fitted GT40P heads, and am having problems with anyone garanteeing me that their headers will fit around the ED's steering column.

Yes they will bolt straight in we have used them on an el with gt40p heads

My old man's got a set of Herrod 4 into 1's and they work a treat and it goes like a champion

OK then. So are these the only sort. What brand are they. Cost? What sort of power increase can I expect. Is it worth the money?

I had cat back on my 220 XR8 stroker and it worked well. However, you have the smaller 200kW cats and the short 4-1 tickford headers. I fitted the Herrod 4-1 headers, however I used Supercats welded direct to header flange. The difference was unbelievable. I doubted it, but the results are definitely there.

I would be careful though, if you aren't going for big mods etc maybe interference headers are a better bet.

For reference, I believe the Herrod 4-1 headers are made by DiFillipo Engineering with specific Herrod design changes, and are made from full stainless steel (hence the cost).
