Hi Guys,

I've sourced a factory fitted electric sun roof from an XD/XE/XF falcon (I'm not too sure which). It has included all of the workings including enough of the old roof to have all of the mounting/structural supports that are required. I plan on paying someone to put it in, cause I ain't good enough.

What I'm wondering is was there ever a known problem with the Ford factory sun roof from this era? I know that many sunroofs that are installed leak even before the seals begin to perish.

The last "Factory" fitted Sunroof was the FD LTD. I think, after that any sunroof was supplied and fitted by either Golde or Hollandia.

It won't have the "flip up" ventillation feature of the newer models and as far as I know the only problem with these was as you say - leaking. Most of this is due to either the seals drying out or mis-alignment of the actual unit. Both can be addressed when you get it installed.

My bro-in-law's XF Ghia has one of these sunroofs fitted and I hate to say it but if his car was ever smashed - I'd love to transfer that into my ESP when I rebuild it. I had the chance to get one from a wreckers but before I got there they had stuck another car on the roof and well you can guess what condition it was in.
