Folks,
what would I be looking at paying to get my engine mounts replaced? I've been quoted around $300 to have them done and they do need it. The vibrations coming from the car are really annoying but it's the only car I have at the moment so I need it to get around. Thankfully it's freeway driving for 90% of the time.

What would I be looking at?

the two engine mounts are worth $30.00 each genuine not sure on labour

Easy to change if you have a pair of axle stands or ramps, a good piece of wood and a trolley jack.

Raise the car onto the ramps or axle stands.

Release but DO NOT remove existing mount bolts

Carefully place wood on trolley jack

Raise Jack onto sump, with the good piece of wood between jack and sump, (yes I know this is dodgy, but if you are VERY CAREFUL and don't take too long it'll be ok. Did my XC 302 this way.) And then lift the engine slightly to release the cross member bolts.

Remove ONE engine mount, and replace it with the new one, then repeat for the other side. Don't tighten the bolts fully yet.

Lower jack out of the way and tighten the bolts completely.

Lower the car and your done!!!!!

I must reinforce, use a good piece of wood, and don't take too long with the jack holding up the engine

I agree with Chris, this is the only way to do it.
Took me30, mins to do one in my ED 6.

thanks guys, you've been a great help. You've saved me over $200 which I can put towards the suspension maintenance which is sadly overdue aswell. I'll ask about options in another thread.

Couldn't agree more on the above. Its a simple job. Save your cash for things that harder to do!
