My EA idles erratically and continually stalls at idle but when I put the car into gear (either Drive or reverse) the problem seems to go away. I have checked the computer codes and i get a code 11 system pass. I have disconnected the idle control motor and set up the idle manually but the car still stalls at idle.
Its got me beat!!!!
Any body had a similar problem and if so how have you rectified it.

Something similar and the problem with my EA is a leaking valve stem seal. It also idles a little better when the transmission is changed and that is because the erratic idle resonates with the engine mountings.
Check for some fouled plugs or plug.

Here's a few things to try:
Check or replace plugs, leads, fuel filter, rotor cap, and rotor button.
Clean injectors.
Borrow a different computer.
Check or replace oxy sensor and MAP sensor.
Any vacuum leaks?
Check TPS voltages

Sounds like it's not giving it enough fuel at idle, when it's in gear it gets a little more to compensate for the load. This would explain the good idle in gear.
