have a 1.8 ford escort turbo diesel it runs ok but when the engine is cold and i have gone a couple of miles it suddenly revs up very loudly for a couple of seconds with smoke pouring out of the exhaust. I have had the fuel system and tank cleaned out and a new fuel filter fitted but this has not helped. Any suggestions?
sounds like its sucking in oil, old vw's used to do this but worse, they would "run away" meaning you have no control over the throttle and cant shut it off they just go full blast until the oil is burned off.
