Couple of guys were intereseted to see the pics of how I fitted my fuel cell to the XD.
Stainless steel trough welded up for it to sit in. Still room for the spare wheel! 45* filler neck going on to fit the "behind the number plate" fuel cap.
Heaps of room for the twin 2.5" system. Now the fun of plumbing it all up.
Very nice. Are you sticking with the filler like that or are you going to use the standard filler on the car?
I found out the hard way a fuel cell/tank requires to be able to be filled from the stock fill point. So I've had to remove over $1000 worth of equipment from mine. God damn Vic laws! Not sure whats the go with WA though.
I'd love to put mine back in but I think my hornet scoops pull me over for a look. So I don't want to risk it. I'll get it plastic welded and run the cell again when I get time
Yeah, WA says no to an internal fill too. Ill unbolt the current cap and I have a Jazz 45 degree filler neck that bolts on. I'll then run a fat fuel tube up to behind the rear number plate so I can fill it from outside. I'll post a pic when its done.
I still have to fabricate a new "stone guard plate thingy"??? which sits under the rear bumper. Then you'll only see about 2 inches of the tank sitting under the car when viewed from behind.
Stroke: it's a 20 gallon cell, so thats about 70 litres. Quite deceiving really looking at the size of it. So its only a tad under the normal XD tank size. It's the biggest size you can get in these pre made aluminium cells. Anything less would be a REAL restriction on range.........unless I carried a few jerries around too.
Very nice job.Can i ask what brand tank that is or where it came from as i am planning a similar setup..What dimensions are the box that is welded in the floor and what thickness metal did you use? Thanks for any help you can give.

It's a Summit Racing factory made 20 US gallon tank (with level sender). They're about $70 cheaper without the sender............but you'd want to make sure your NRMA/RAC membership is up to date!
I bought in when in the US for about US$275
Here's the link to American Auto parts in Sydney who supply the identical RCI versions (who Summit copied them for a bit cheaper!)
The trough is about 0.6 mm gauge heavy duty steel (freaking tough). Has an inch gap on the sides and about 2 inches front & back for clearnace of custom pipe fittings.
