Fuel Door Release Indicator

Quick and easy question this time,

Is the Fuel Door Release Indicator light meant to light up when you release the fuel door, i assume that is it, what do i have to do to get mine working again ?

I have a May 98 build EL Gli There is the fuel door bit written on the tacho with an arrow pointing left :)

I think you'll find that it is not a light, just a helpful note on the dash for people who are not familiar with the car so they know which side of the fuel pump to park.
