Re: Fuel pump of choice.

Electric pros- easy carb prime, wont rupture and fill the engine up with gas, easier to replace, more reliable, instant fuel pressure, can be rigged with cut-off switch, fuel leaks can be found without starting the engine, fuel lines can be routed anyway you see fit as well as pump location, and its pretty.

Electric cons- Its electric and requires a power source and could blow a fuse every now and then. If the alternator quits working or the battery goes dead it will be too.

Manual pros- does not require a power supply to keep the engine running.

Manual Cons- engine has to be turned over and over to pump gas to the carb. A fuel leak could be ignited by a backfire or spark. Diaphragm could rupture putting gas into the engine, requires the pump arm to run on a cam attached to the timing gear, cannot route lines as you see fit, and they are ugly.

Brands? Depends on your application. I run a Holley (RED) on a modified 460, and the pump never falls behind. They make huge pumps for top fuel cars all the way down to your daily 4 banger pumps. Most everything now is equipped with electric pumps.

I love it when people do things right
Unfortunetly I dont always do that lol
