Fuel Pump Troubles

Hey peoples.

Just wondering if anyone can help me. I've got reason to believe my fuel pump is in trouble and i was just wondering if anyone has any experience with busted fuel pumps or know what i should look for to see if mines dying.

What symptoms should i look for when im driving and is there a easy way to check to see if the fuel pump is causing problems?
Like any sounds i should listen for or any changes in the way the car drives etc?

Also if i do need one how much would i be looking at and has anyone replaced it themselves? How hard is it to do this...

Im pretty useless around the car so any help please...

Thanx guys.

Ent.

You should hear the pump work when you turn the ignition on first thing in the morning. The system is pressurised and keeps this pressure for quite a while after engine shut-down. If you suspect pump problems, you will have to get the fuel system pressure tested.
Symptoms of a faulty pump are your normal running out of fuel things, like hesitation, coughing, farting, lack of power, things like that.
The fuel pump is in the tank, not a hard job to replace, don't know the price of one though.
