fuel sensor?

Just before I decided to fill up the AU, I had about 80k's left showing under the DTE. As I was filling, the pump clicked like the tank was full but I thought nah it's probably just the pump itself. I had put in 20 bucks worth but when I started the car up, it was showing that I've got a tank full. Is it the fuel sensor? and is it going to be a major hassle to get fixed?

Re: fuel sensor?

what was the fuel gauge showing before you filled it? Were you driving it hard before you filled up?

Re: fuel sensor?

It was showing about a 1/4 left and I wasn't driving it hard.

Re: fuel sensor?

it is a simple float and sender,
i had a similar problem once with a AU2, the DTe and the fuel gauge never said the same thing.. I reset the battery and i worked out

How many litres did you just put in?

Re: fuel sensor?

Sounds like the fuel level sender couldnt be 100% sure though... Not sure on difficulty to replace but it wouldnt be too difficult as it is accesed from underneath the boot carpet under the round plate that is under there next to the spare wheel.

Do what tibbo said first see if that fixes it.
