Hey guys, ive had troubles with my fuel guage and tomorrow im going to have a look at my sender unit. What i want to know is what do i need to take the cap off the tank, in the boot? I was just going to try and do it by hand and see how that goes but i think it might be a bit hard. The gregory's manual i have said to fabricate a tool but cant really do that.

not sure on your model but i would expect they would all be the same? bursons in victoria sell a tool for this job but its not that cheap if you only suspect this to be your fault, your best bet would be to take it to someone who repairs instruments/gauages as they would have a tool and may be able to test and qoute accordingly to fix whatever the problem is. i've used these type of services to change the tacho readings from 6cyl to V8 for about $20 in an XE ESP instrument cluster.
