1997 Ford Taurus

This morning after starting the car, there was gas odour in the cabin. It grew stronger by evening. The gas level was near Empty. After about 5-7 kms drive, the odour progressively increased. On opening the hood, there were smoke (fumes) near distributor head, strong gas odour, and leaked gas towards the bottom.

What could be the problem? Any blown gaskets or something?

A gas leak is a serious matter and it should be towed to a shop if you are unsure of where to look for it.
