GT40 upper intake on Cobra lower intake

Fellas,

I Have a ED XR8 Sprint, and it has the GT40 heads, however the upper manifold is not a GT40 item (like the one on my mum's EL GT), but it looks like it's a cobra upper manifold.

Will a GT40 upper intake fit up to my lower manifold, or do i need a matching lower intake?

any feedback would be great

thanks

shane

The GT40 will bolt straight up, because the lower is the same for the cobra and GT40. The question is why? It has been shown in many tests that the Cobra outflows the GT40 (212cfm for the cobra vs 208 for the GT40). I have just ported my lower of the cobra intake and it has tested at 235cfm per runner.

ooer, i didnt know that....

how much do u think it'd cost to have this lower manifold ported if i do the remove/refit myself?

is there any point bothering having the upper manifold ported - what kind of HP do you think this manifold could cater for?

thanks

shane

In stock form, the cobra is rated at 400hp. The porting of the lower is quite easy so should only cost $100-$200. I had mine done for free because my friend is a head porter. The lower is the restrictive part so thats where the attention needs to be focused.

hey those AFR's dont look to bad at all.

so if i bolt on those AFRs, wack in a nice fat cam, have the lower intake ported.... i should get a nice kick out of it.

would they be ideal for a 347 + V1 S-trim setup?

expected hp @ the fly approx anyone for each setup?

thanks

shane :)
