After 76000km the head on the EL has to come off! Not happy at all!!!!

Been losing a lot of coolant in the last two weeks and it has only become visible today that its coming out at the back of the head somewhere and running down the block.

Not sore if there is a core plug at the back of the EL heads but it must have coroded through the aluminium. Its too high to be the head gasket.

Is there like the EA/EB etc a heater pipe running from the LH firewall to the water pump between the head and the firewall? If so check it's not cracked.

I am not too sure mate, maybe some can help here. Last nite i did about 60km and it lost 1.5liters of coolant. Plus i had it on the pressure test and at 140kpa the were no visible leaks. At that stage i though the head gasket blew between a water chamber and cylinder, hence it was going out the exhaust. The is no water in oil, thank god!!

find out where its comming from for sure.. i had a hole in a heater hose and it was pissing coolant to the other side of the engine bay! this was on my EF i6, i was very pleased to find it only cost me a few dolllars to fix.

Mate thats not good news at all

I had the same problem on the xr re water loss.

Presure tested at 140 as well with no reduction of presure even over 2 hours!

Yet normal driving of an hour resulted in 2 litres of water loss.

At the end of the day, the head gaskets had developed several channels which alowed constant water loss under engine load, how it never made its way to a cyl I never know but once the heads came off you could clearly see the damaged that had started.

Please...Please dont drive her hard, in fact only fir the radiator cap to the 1st turn to allow presure to flow out through that just in case the heads or gaskets have shat themselves!
