Gidday,
Went to Bris. yesterday and picked up a almost new head (3000 k's) for My EA. Bloke I got it off threw in a XR6 cam ( new, still in box). Head is on a motor (240000 K's) but I'm going to put it on mine for now. I'll re ring and bearing the motor it and keep it for later.
Thing is on reading the workshop manuel it says to plug a 9 volt battery into the lighter socket when taking the battery out. Is this neccessary ????

umm, i think the point to doing this is so that the car does not loose memory, form either the ECU or other components like Radio.

If you have your radio security code(Or an after market H/U), the I would not bother with the 9V.

Once you bolt the engine up again with small changes, the ECU will need to adjust to the changes you made, so by disconnecting the ECU, it will have to reset itself anyway.

In other words, should be no problem.
