The second type this happened I took the thin black layer that was fraying off and sprayed the thicker insulaltions with a coat of black underbody coating. Looks Ok and lasts for years (so far).

It also shields your bonnet from the heat. I suggest you just get a new one or leave this one on, because if you take it off, your bonnet's paint may be damaged from the heat.

Everything was fine,
untill i chucked an EL intake on the engine

It is higher then the EF's so because of that, the EF pad touched, and from engine movement, started ripping up

Damn

I got an EL XR8, it didn't come out with one from the factory so how will it wreck the paint??? Do new engines run hotter than older cars that didn't have the insulation??

EFSundeep, If it's starting to come away take it off ASAP. We've seen a few under bonnet fires from that stuff when it fall in the manifold. It will be a little noisier, who cares... The sound of my car doesn't bother me and thats factory.
