Where is the letter code on the engine to find out what model it is????

There's one on the front of the head.. They are design approval codes.. like 87DA, 94DA, etc..

Someone else will know more..

EA is 87DA and not sure when everything changed.. I'm assuming 94DA or whatever will be EF..

Should be one on lots of the parts..

i can see on the block though it says 91DA

So what engine is it???

ok cool few, but the strange things is that....

the timing cover has 87DA on it as well as the oil pump
and
there was a sticker behind the flywheel on the block that had 3.9 MP auto

EB 4.0l had 87DA oil pumps and timing covers. dont worry about the sticker its the casting numbers you want.

so sweet it is a 4.0L EB? your a legend!

You should beable to tell from the crank, the 4 litre will have an 8 counterweight crank.

yes definetly 4.0L EB, the crank will also have 91 DA on it. but you should try and get a 94DA EF crank as these were fully counter weighted (12) will run smoother and is better for balancing.
