HELP : My car's stuffed :'- (

Today, while taking the car for a drive to test the new pod filter out the tacho dropped to 0 and then went back up again, then down, then back up until finally stalling. Then the car wouldn't start.

When we rolled the car on to the side of the road we saw smoke coming out near the battery. I assumed the battery was fried but on closer inspection the wiring to the relays were melted and showing

I checked if the fuel pump was priming but it wasn't. I don't what's wrong I haven't checked how far back the wiring's burnt but I think it's bad. It was only smoking up from that one part.

I think that the hose from the reservoir tank may have melted away the tape over the wiring and then through the wiring insulation. I just don't know. Hopefully in about 40 minutes i'm getting it towed to my house.

I'll take out the battery and stuff and take some photos. I hope this is common and can be fixed cheaply.

The car's an EA S MPI 5 speed if that helps.

Thankys,

Sundeep

Well the fuel pump relay is in that bank of relays near the coolant tank, so if the wires too it are rooted, then chances are so is the fuel relay...that could explain why it wont prime....

Check your earth wire at the eec. You could have toasted you eec too???

Sundeep sounds like a high resistant joint. The shorted out.
May have to replace connecters and relays/ C- breakers too..
