help with my heads
hey i got a 87 bronco with a 302 efi i blew the motor and ruined the block so i got a junkyard motor and rebuilt it in shop class at school. i ground the valves and seats, and before i put the heads on i asked if the they were the same. or if i had to put them on the side they came off of. he said they were the same so i threw them on. and well guess what he was wrong. DAMN CHEVY GUYS!!. well any ways let me explain the situation. the holes on the front and back are in the same location. but there is a hole that i think goes all the way through the head from front to back. in the front a bolt goes into it and seals it up and that bolt holds on the front brackets for the alt, a/c, pow str, etc. and in the back the hole goes to a tube that bring both sides up togather and into a hose that goes to the air pump. well the problem is that hole. the side of the heads that are sopposed to be in front (but are now in back because the heads are swaped) are smaller then the back. in the back there is a bigger hole for the air to move threw. but there is threads in that hole also just not the same size threads i was thinking that maybe there was a helicoil in the front to take the threads up to a smaller size so they didnt have to use huge bolts in to hold on the accessory brackets and still had the same air flow for the air pump. you know so they could just drill it all the way through the head with one bit and just thread both sides to the same. any ways has any one ran into a simmilar problem? or what do i need to do. i heard if i take the heads off i have to go buy new head and intake gaskets again because tourqeing them down smashes it. some one help me find a cheep solution i was thinkung that maybe i could drill the accessory bracket hales bigger and find a bolt for it. well im confusing myself. some one help!!
