HELP ! Removing 5 Ltr Clutch Fan
Any advice on removing it to install thermos?
Have great difficulty getting the pump pulley to stay while trying to undo the fan. Have tried jamming in a screwdriver.
One thing, the thread is supposed to be Right handed, which means you turn clockwise to undo, correct? or is my head up my ass on this?
Pete

Re: HELP ! Removing 5 Ltr Clutch Fan
sorry but ur head is up ur ass. right hand thread = anti clockwise to undo,
left hand thread = clockwise to undo.
im pretty sure the clutch fans have a left hand thread on them so that the nut wont get loose. (that means you have to turn it clockwise)

Sweet, although I did try it both ways, just more vigorously in the clockwise direction. So a right hand thread is a normal thread? The V8's and I6's are ass about (I6 is left and V8 right). I'll have another crack at it tomorrow then ..

It's a 36mm nut yeah? You using a shifter or a spanner? You should be turning it to the driver's side.
Mine came off EASY with a screw driver shoved in the pulley bolts. Might as well soak it in WD40 over night.
Where abouts are you? If you're in Melbourne I might be able to come round and give you a hand.

Yea, to big for anything but a shifter I have. I was turning it the wrong way, feel like an idiot now, but at least it is nice and tight! HAHA.

Damn, that might be a bit of a drive
I had no luck whatsoever with the shifter, got it first shot with the spanner. Though I don't know how different V8 fans are.

The V8's are backward to the I6 - they spin the oppisite way. So undo it like a normal nut.
