IIRC the 1300 is a Kent motor, i'd be fishing out a 1600 kent donk to swap in, should be virtually a give away nowadays.
Once you have a 1600, you will open yourself up to heaps of mods right up to modern fuel injection!

i aint that adventerious or desperate yet... is there much difference between the 1300 and 1600?

The only difference between the two is the 1600 has an approx 25mm higher deck height, other wise they are exactly the same.Combustion chamber in piston. As Ford called it at the time "bowl in piston".
Try to get the old 1300/1600 G.T inlet [Escort/ Cortina Mk2] and fit a twin choke weber down drought like the one fitted to the 2 Ltr.. Lynx, redline.Make inlet manifolds.
Look in the trading post often there is a single side drought with manifold for sale.. The twin side drought maybe too expensive?? P.M me if you want...

can only fit down droughts due to the fact that the brake booster is right there hence no room for side droughts. thanks anyway

Not sure on the Morrie. But a single S/D may fit iff the booster is on the firewall. A D/D is better in your case anyway!!Besides it looks almost std and you can fit a 2 Ltr air cleaner...WOW!!
