Hey,
Can I please have a few people opinions of how to get my ed4lt Fairmont stock, quicker without spending over $1500 and compromising the fuel efficiency much at all. I already have arranged a 2.5 inch stainless system
maybe a reprogrammed ECU, as the standard is not as efficient as i t could be, and it would also increase the power a little... more importantly, future modifications would respond much better with a little tuning. i'm not sure exactly how much that would cost, but i think Chiptorque ECU's are about $800, and just plug in (don't quote me on that).
other wise, a high flow air filter (about $140), pacemaker headers if you haven't got them ($350ish).... these will have no effect on the fuel econemy, if not, make it better.
it is difficult making a vehicle quicker, without comprimising the fuel economy.. hope this helped a little
1. extractors & 2 1/2 in exhaust
2. Cold Air
3. diff centre
4. throttle body
5. chip it after above mods are done.
6. Maybe mild head work depending on $$$
If you want to keep drivability without the expense, leave the cam alone. Changing a cam will not only cost but you will need to reprogram your cpu to accomodate the different specs. (This is what I was told)
You'll get it to move pretty well with just these bolt ons.
pacemaker extractors and the exhaust you mentioned should do.
maybe put 4:11s in the rear (if your not doing highway driving?).
and a cam. should be able to do all that for $1500 ( unless the exhaust price is not included).
I've still got a very new set of HM headers and 2.5" sports exhaust system for sale if you're interested. Reason why they are for sale? Just look at my signature below....
Yea i agree with chubbz, I recently brought a stock ea 5spd CFI wagon and i can say that between that car and my EB 4spd (fair few mods) it would probably kick its arse if it was tuned up properly. The auto's waste so much power.
