I needed a tacho in my GLi so instead of buying a monster guage or sports cluster like everyone else I have bought an Apexi rev and speed meter. I got it for around $200 less than the autometer gauge so riceboy flaming wont be necessary.

This thing reads out speed and rpm in real time and has the ability to measure times such as 0-100, quarter mile, acceleration and G forces and so on.
I have heard that the G tech is very accurate and the Apexi also uses a G sensor so will it be as accurate?
The G tech retails for around $650 and does not do real time speed while I paid $250 through a friend of a friend for this and it does so it seems like good value to me.

Any one used one for these before?

When I get the car back I will get to the drags and test it out properly to see how accurate it is.

Sounds like you got a good deal!

I'd be interested to see how you go with the testing.
Where are you going to mount it? On the dashboard, or infront of the cluster?

I think I will put it on the steering column in front of the cluster. I havent really decided yet. I know properly when I get the car back from the workshop which looks like it will be this weekend.

I imagine the rev count would be normal, its just the quater mile times may be shady.

Does anyone know exactly how accurate a G tech is?

It has rpm and speed outputs to run a shift light and similar too. It will read to 300km/hour for those times when the stock speedo just isnt enough.
It looks like it does heaps of stuff, I dont know why tachos are so expensive.

StockEB has one and said that this speedo was accurate but his stock on wasnt because of his diff gears.

Looks good mate, will also be handy if you get pulled over because you will know exactly what speed you were doing!

I could hook up a speed light. If i go over a certain limit a light could come or a loud siren.
That would keep my Dad from thrashing my car.
It should be good, gadgets are fun.

Miles out usually, remember StrokeXD stating his GTech times of 12.2 or somthing? Then in real life it ran a 13.1.

For 1/4 mile only count on track timers.

Thats a bit of a difference.
Has anyone run it at the same time as a real quarter mile run? I might give this a go.

I'd give it a go if it works good, as in the old XY there is only the speedo in miles, and god knows how accurate that is...... lol .. especially cause I got a manual.... would be good to know what rpm I'm at.
