How do you relieve the fuel pressure? 2002 4.0 V6

Or is this system even under constant pressure?

I want to change the fuel filter.

Thanks.

Nik

If the car has been run in the past couple of days the fuel line will likely have considerable pressure still present.

If you can locate your fuel pump relay/fuse you can disable it and try cranking the engine for a short time. That should relieve the pressure enough to avoid any nasty spills.

You may also have a schrader valve (bicycle tyre type) located somewhere along the fuel rail in the engine bay you can operate to release some fuel. Recommend you get an appropriate hose to attach and a container to catch any fuel rather than a rag.
