I have AU2 XR8, wondering what gain would i get by putting on a Series 3 Throttle Body, most likely aftermarket as the Ford ones are a packet. Its either this or a uni chip, for now, which one will be the best ?

AUII ones are 65mm which is all you will need until you are putting close to 200rwkw. Lots of tests in the states have shown that on a mild 5.0L, going to 70mm only results is a few extra kw at most, but due to loss of low down torque, increases quarter mile times by a couple of tenths.

An AU2 XR8 is already rated at 200kw, so it depends on what else you've done. I've just put a 70mm TB on my AU2 V8 (non-XR), which has K&N air filter, rebored MAF sensor tube, pacemakers, high flow cats (6 litres per side) and full 3" system with straight through muffler. I did the TB before the 3" and noticed some better throttle response, but not much else. Since the 3" system, I've noticed heaps better pull right through the rev range, but especially from 1000 - 2000rpm, and again between 4000-5500 rpm.

The Tickford ones are not as expensive as they once were. Herrod Motorsport now sells them for $550 plus GST + postage. You can order them from Rob direct ph 03 9464 5100.
Rob did tell me that I would need their ceramic intake tube (from MAF to TB), but I have not found that to be the case.

Give Rob a call - he's a wealth of knowledge, and will tell you the benefits etc of whatever mod you do.

city ford in melbourne has brand new 70mm throttle bodies on sale for $450 inc GST if you decide to get one!

they also have the 250 KW GT-P heads for $1250 i think it was

thanks guys.
all i have done to the motor, is SS inductions intake, K&N Filter, Pacemaker Extractors, and Hi Flow mufflers on the standard tickford system.

And it sounds bloody nice! (listened to the mp3). The TB should give you some benefit then - but Rob will be able to tell you how much (roughly) or whether the unichip would be a better option (or both!)

i think he meant the std throttle body is good until you have 200 kw at the wheels.
