Just a quick question regarding resprays. I am currently looking for an EL XR8 and since I am not a big fan of the factory colours I am thinking about respraying the whole car in Blueprint. I have seen an ED XR8 Sprint in this colour and it looked nothing short of awesome. Could anyone tell me approx how much a full bare metal repray will be? Keep in mind that I also want the engine bay resprayed so I will basically have to remove the engine and also replace the seals around the glass etc. Thanks guys.

If your going to leave it at the shops door and walk away and come back when he says to , well id say now days you would not get much change out of 6k to 10k depending what they find under the paint.

and if you do go through with it get the guy to sign some sort of agreement to have it back on a certain date ...

But it would all variy on the over all condition of the car and the workman ship of the trades people involed...

Cost of pain can go up and down not by much but a bit if you on a budget.

Its a must to shop around ...

i just finished getting my eb sprayed blueprint
cost me $2345 + $100 for trims
i stripped the whole car myself minus the trim and doors
and i put it back together
i had a fair bit of damage in the car aswell and its now dead straight
the only thing not painted was the inner engine bay which i will do black when engine comes out

That sounds like a good price, but I'd be interested in the paint that was used. I'm in the stage of re-building an XW and I intend to do a bare metal respray. I'm stripping the old paint, taking the car to a bare shell and putting the undercoat/high fill on myself, then guide coating and getting it ready to take to a shop for them to lay the top coat and clear on. I've bought the paint myself and that cost $1300. I'm using PPG two pack. I can only do this because i've got the facilities but it's a hell of a lot of work.

I would have thought a re-spray (drive in and drive away) would cost around 8K as well. Smash repairers don't like these jobs cause it takes away their insurance jobs (bolt off, bolt on, fast money) and they'll have you're car for ages.

they used gasurite 2-pak c.o.b
they had the car over 6 weeks which sucked and they took another 4 weeks to do the rear bar
i stipped the car so all they did was repairs and paint
if you prep the car it will cost f'all as it only took them 3 days from undercoat to final buff the time was in the panel work
