Does anyone know how to access the diagnostic fault fault codes for an AU (series 1) I6 ?

I know how to do this with my EL, and have found this useful, so was hoping that someone might be able to help with this, along with a list of the codes and the fault too if possible, or at least where to look. I presume that the plug used would be the one that is near the fuses under the dash (which looks nothing like the EL one).

Given Ford's claimit has:"Self diagnostics with memory retention of fault codes and the ability to interface and communicate with Global Ford Diagnostic Testers" I would look at buying an OBD Ford compliant tester from here http://www.jcwhitney.com or http://www.eastwoodcompany.com/ or http://www.harborfreight.com/ Just enter 'OBD' and/or "Code" and or "Scan" in the keyword search boxes.

I guess my message is:I'm sure you could make your own with the Jaycar plug and a genuine Ford workshop manual but it might be cheaper and easier to buy the tool.

Cool . . anyone on Australia got one, and used it ok ? esp EL's ?

While we are at it, anyone know where you would be able (and how much) to get a break-out box like what ford uses (between the loom and ecu)? Would make measuring stuff like TPS much easier . . .

Thanks for the replies. From this info, and these web sites, it looks as if i can't just hook up the multimeter and read the codes like on the EL.
