Will any wheel puller be able to remove the nut from the harmonic balancer, cause i was talking to a mechanic and he said i would need a harmonic puller what the? And is there anything else i need to know to be able to remove and replace it? And i just had my engine reco not long ago so surely the harmonic balancer would have been replaced then, it has only been like 2 years since then, but the mechanic reckons it has slipped??

what make and model, the ef seires requires a diferent tool for both the 6 and 8...

ok i got the harmonic balancer off alright but cant manage to remove the old oil seal, should it just pop out?

yep. Use a screwdriver to lever it out, or, cut it and remove - be carefil not to damage the metal though, or it'll leak.

The big round thing at the bottom of the engine at the front (you can see it). It runs the fan belts. It is weighted to harmonic balance the crankshaft to stop the engine ratling to bits, it also runs the fan belts as a bonus.

well, technically the harmonic balancer doesnt run the fan belts on a ford falcon . The belt pulley bolts onto the front of the balancer but they are separate items.
As dellboy said its there to balance the engine while rotating.

This is not a good picture but the best I have. The balancer sits on the snout of the crankshaft.

how do i get the engine to stop spinning on a automatic, when removing the bolt on the harmonic balancer.
